- John's birth was announced in the Buffalo County Journal on Thursday Jan 1, 1920 stating "Dr. and Mrs. E.W. Jardine are the happy parents of a bouncing 11 1/2 lb son, born to them at La Cross on Saturday. Congratulations."
Enlisted in the U.S. Army on 04 Aug 1942; served in WWII as Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA and listed civilian occupation as Semiskilled occupations in processing of dairy products. Enlisted as single, with dependents (likely his mother?)
He grew up in Alma and moved to Durand in 1938. In the 1940 census, he was a high school graduate, 20 yrs old, living in Durand with his widow mother, Mary (50 yrs), and Mary's widow mother, Ann Myers (76 yrs). John was on public emergency work as a laborer for the Civilian Conservation Corps. Neither his mother nor grandmother were working. John's father died in 1936. It appears that John and his mother remained in Alma until he graduated from high school, then moved to Durand to live with his grandmother.
John was employed by the Tri-City Dairy and Durand Creamery before going to the post office in 1961. He was listed as a postal employee when he died.
John died at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN.
