    • It was a very stormy day and the wedding party walked up to their knees in snow from the bride's father's home, Samuel Robinson, on the Dublin Range,
      to the same place that another couple were also be married that day. There were no roads there in those days so they had to walk. After the wedding, the party walked back to Samuel Robinson's home.

      They were married at the home of Alexander Learmoth, a Church of England minister, on Grays Road, near the present town of Inverness, Megantic County, Quebec.

    • Nancy married John William Gillis on March 4, 1832 at
      the home of Alexander Learmonth, a Church of England
      minister, on Craig's Road near the present town of Inverness,
      Megontic County, Quebec. . The day of their wedding was
      stormy and the wedding party walked in snow up to their knees
      from Nancy's father's home ( Samuel Robinson ) on the
      Dublin Range, to Alexander Learmonth's home, where they and
      another couple were married that day. After the wedding, they
      all walked back to Nancy's father's home. A book on births,
      marriages, and deaths of Megantic County states that "William
      Gillis (farmer) of Inverness married Nancy Robinson of
      Inverness on the 4th of March 1833, Church of England, Leeds,
      and witnessed by Alexander Learmonth and William Stele."

      Nancy's son, William , taught her to read.

      Nancy is buried next to her husband, William, their son, Samuel,
      and daughter, Nancy, in the Boutelles Cemetery. One of the
      oldest burying grounds of Inverness, Boutelles Cemetery is
      named after the Boutelle family who settled Inverness at the
      beginning of colonization. It is owned and maintained by the
      United Church of Canada in Inverness, Quebec, and is still an
      active cemetery. It is well maintained and the stones are in good
      condition.
