Acc. to Mrs. Vera Nesbitt, Rbt. Brown Gillis arrived in Canada in 1901, from the U.S., where he had farmed. She reports he was born in Ontario and had come to the western U.S. with horses and a covered wagon. In Saskatchewan, he farmed 1/2 mi. south west of the town of Bienfait on section 24. He married Elizabeth Enmark, a widow with two children, Albert and Vera (i.e, Mrs. Nesbitt, the author). They were strict Christian Scientists. The Canadian Nat'l Railroad built a railway through his property in the 1920s. He later sold some of his land to the Eastern Mine. He lived on the farm until he died in May 1946. [6]
